To what degree does a buzz help? And when have you crossed the line?

1) No degree

2) Always

During chess, you should try to stay as focused as possible on the board.

People are too drunk to respond at the moment.

Did Tal play drunk?

My chess club meets in a bar. I drink a bit on chess night. I must attest that it does not help much. Tactical acuity goes first. Planning is in low gear. I notice, however, that I don't mind losing so much.

I think it helps a bit against lower rated players, because you play fast and for tricks which puts more pressure on them.

I suppose I'm only talking about blitz though. And by lower rated lets say at least 200 points.

If you play casual chess and drink with friends, its fun. Its just like bowling or pool with buzz. Just dont drive home. Take a cab or stay overnight.
