Elo vs. Glicko

FIDE and pretty much all the national chess federations use the Elo rating system.

Chess.com, as far as I know, is the only place that uses the Glicko rating system.

I find Glicko to make more sense, but for some reason, the older Elo is more common. Why is that?

So here are my questions:

1. Would/should the Glicko rating system replace the Elo within a matter of time?

2. What would the Glicko ratings of the world's top 10 be?

Please discuss!

If you find Glicko to make more sense, you probably know what the formulas are and understand that the only difference between two is that in Glicko new players achieve their rating faster. K factor is used in ELO instead.

Thanks for your response, Ev.

Yes, I do know about the formulas and what variables are used to calcualte ratings.

But why not use Glicko for real OTB chess tourneys and whatnot?
