to focus on chess more. is this a good Idea? it seems that everytime i want to play chess for atleast study it my girlfriend gets in the way. Im sorry i like chess and i feel my gf is getting in the way.

me and my girlfriend has been fighting alot besides me playing chess. for example ever since she moved away she has not made any effort to talk to me or keep in contact with me and if i do it seems like a bother for her to talk to me.

We are chess players, not relationship advisors.Wink

If the things you say in your second paragraph are true, then I would have to say chess is not the problem.

Now I am going to talk to you the way women talk to each other:

You are your own person. Chess is part of who you are. If they can't accept that, then they can't accept you. Don't let some woman take that away from you. Be strong sister!!!

Well, it's up to you -- I mean, you should be able to answer this question better than anyone else. If she's really enjoyable, then maybe it's worth doing less chess, even much less, but again I would think you already know that. I tend to think that both people should be willing to make sacrifices, but if chess is one of your passions, and you have to give up a part of who you are just to please her, that doesn't seem right. Someone who truly respects you will understand that people have different interests, and wouldn't want to outright take something away from you just because she herself wasn't into it. But again it goes both ways. Don't insist she be your study buddy all the time either if she doesn't like chess for example :)

"so you got a girl who is willing to do anything with you"

We don't know this. In fact if this were true he would be much less likely to post here.

Sounds like somebody else already ended the relationship.

It seems this is your lucky day. I happen to be a counsellor. Ask yourself, is there passion, intimacy and commitment in the relationship? Check out sternberg love triangle and you will get an answer to your problems but generally I think you need a girl who can respect you and what you llove

You're cruel stating the obvious like that.Laughing

Yes, the best idea ever OP. While you are at it, also quit your job to live on  welfare. No job means more time to play chess.

Get in the car, put in some music, drive to the next city, meet new women, spend a heady weekend. Problem solved.

Discover some new smells on a pretty new thang.

True story.

I know a guy who talks to his chess pieces. Don't be that guy. Forget chess and go get your girl.

I talk to chess pieces too. But I also talk to my muscles

WHat do they say when you talk to them? My guess is the chess pieces are smarter than the muscles.Laughing

I started having occasional conversations with my pieces after I read Aron Nimzowitsch stated that you should listen to the pieces to know where they should go.

It sounds a bit crazy, and maybe it is, but after I started doing this, I found myself making moves that I would otherwise never have thought of.

Now I know two more guys who talk to their chess pieces.

...when you get a little older you will realise that chess is not the most important thing... it will not feed you, clothe you, nor keep you warm at nights...

U ARE ACTUALLY BEING AN ABSOLUTE W*NKER. iF U GYS ARE HAVING NORMAL ISSUES THAN FINE BREAK UP...BUT OVER CHESS.. YOUR LIFE MUST BE SO SAD...BTW NO GYS EXCEPT U WOULD ACT LIKE THIS.... WHAT WOULD U RATHER PLAY WITH A CHESS BOARD OR A PUSSY..THERE IS YOUR ANSWER... SO STOP BEING A TOSSER AND MAKE CHESS YOUR HOBBY NOT YOUR LIFE. CALL YOUR GIRLFRIEND AND MAKE IT UP AND YOU WILL BE A MUCH HAPPIER W*ANKER. SERIOUSLY DUDE YOU NEED TO GET YOUR PRIORITY'S STRAIGHT.

Avatar of stabilo-boss

You want to break up only because of chess?? Or because you feel like she doesnt want to talk to you?

Forget chess for a while and make up with your girlfriend.

By the way, apparently not all guys think like you.
