English pawn structure guidelines

does anyone have any guidelines for when to choose to pursue the Botvinnick c4, d3, e4 structure or nonbotvinnick c4, d4, e3 structure? also, if you have a name for that other structure, names are cool.

The best circumstance in which to play a Botvinnik formation is one in which your King's Knight still has access to e2 / e7 (ie: your Knight has not yet moved to f3 / f6) and the opposing Queen's Knight no longer has access to c6 / c3 (ie: the opponent has already moved either Nbd7 / Nbd2 or c7-c6 / c2-c3).
