did the europeans stop plying chess? my opponents are always from india, indonesia, oezbekistan or an african country. rarely from europe.

A lot of it is going to come down to timing. It depends on who is active when you are
So the last two years the indians and indonesians accomodated their times on which they played to my playing schedule. So nice of them. Hope they return to their old habits soon.

I'm from England, club players are mostly on lichess
Chess.com is still big among casual players but for club players lichess is preferred

I m happy with my level of chess. No need for focus. Just want to play some nice games. Against people, not against stockfish.

- Population of Africa: 1.39 billion.

The combined population of India and Indonesia is already 3.9 times bigger than the EU's.
Add the populations of India, Indonesia and Africa together and you get a number seven times the EU's population. How are you not less likely to encounter a chess player from the EU?

Those numbers were about the same in 2020 when i joined chess.com. that time, till 2023 at least, most of my opponents came from the US. I suspect they changed the algorythm
