Ever try new things in chess?

I recently decided to discard my blitz rating in hopes of trying new openings and tactics.

But alas, i feel confused now more than ever. Do you guys/gals ever try new things and come to find out later that its hard to find your way again? Whats a good approach to fix this?

When you learn new things it's common for your performance to go down at first. It takes a while to incorporate new knowledge and ways of thinking into the way you play.

As for openings, whatever you pick, stick with it until you've learned it pretty well. Review your opening choices against a database and use an engine to find your biggest tactical mistakes. You can also post games on chess.com forums and ask for advice.

Im doing this from the mobile app so posting games doesnt appear to work. Thats pretty sound advice and appears to be whats going on. I may just struggle to understand the positions so early. Thanks for the advice.

Some of the blunders are completely avoidable, as in i cant believe i would do such a foolish move. I know hindsight is 20/20 but in some of these cases, its hard to know what i was thinking.
