Fastest way to improve is progress, not perfection. If you want progress, work on your mistakes after every game. The less mistakes you make, the better you get. If you want to learn tricks try doing more puzzles, they will help you see things like checkmates, forced checkmates, forking pieces, discovered checks, and pinning pieces.

I like to read books and try to apply what I learned on a match, watching videos and analysing nice players matches are very helpful too

tl;dr: Focused, deliberate practice on specific elements of the game (i.e. openings, middlegame, endgame, tactics, pawn structures, etc.). Read books, watch videos, and DON'T play more games!
