How do I get my FIDE rating 🤔

1. Get a FIDE ID Contact Your National Chess Federation: Your journey begins with your country's national chess federation. They are responsible for registering players with FIDE. Registration: You will need to register with them, provide personal details (name, date of birth, etc.), and pay any required federation fees. Receive Your ID: Once registered, your national federation will assign you a FIDE ID (often called a FIDE Identification Number or FIN), which is used to track all your rated games. 2. Participate in FIDE-Rated Tournaments Find Official Events: You must play in tournaments that are officially recognized and registered as FIDE-rated events. You can usually find these on your national federation's website or the FIDE website's tournament calendar. Adhere to Time Controls: The tournament must follow FIDE's minimum time controls, which typically means each player has at least 60 minutes to complete the game. 3. Meet the Rating Requirements (The "Gate Criteria") For an unrated player to receive an initial FIDE Standard rating, they must meet the following criteria from games played against already rated opponents: Minimum Games: Play a minimum of 5 games against FIDE-rated opponents. This number of games can be accumulated across multiple tournaments within a 26-month period. Minimum Score: Score at least 0.5 points (one draw or one win) against these rated opponents. Minimum Performance: Achieve a performance rating of at least 1400 in those games. This means your calculated performance over the rated games must be at the current minimum FIDE rating floor. Note: The minimum rating floor was raised from 1000 to 1400 in March 2024. 4. Wait for Publication Automatic Calculation: Once you have fulfilled the requirements, the tournament organizer will submit the results to your national federation, which in turn submits them to FIDE. Monthly List: FIDE publishes a new rating list on the first day of every month. If your requirements are met and submitted in time, your initial rating will appear on the next published list. In short, the process is: Get FIDE ID \rightarrow Play in FIDE-rated tournaments \rightarrow Meet the 5-game, 0.5-point, and 1400 performance requirements \rightarrow Receive your rating.
