There shouldn't be speed games as a tiebreaker. The champion should keep the title with a drawn match because u have to BEAT the champion in match play. In sports like fighting and boxing (boxing ain't fighting) the challenger has to beat the champion to gain the title, with draws the champion retains the title.

The World Rapid is from December 26-28, and the World Blitz is from December 30-31.
If the classic chess ties, lower rated player should win the title. It is a hard achievement for a lower rated player to tie a high rated player in a match.

Wow, Ding wins game one as black and he played the French. I wonder how long it's been since a French was played in a title match, anyone here know?
I think Ding played the French against Nepo in that match and lost.

Bro ding had 3 wins ALL YEAR. Gukesh had just came off of dominating the chess Olympiad. This is insane
I personally didnt believe ding would play well. Surprise

The last time was by Ding against Nepo. Korchnoi drew several times with it against Karpov. Botvinnik used it regularly. However, the time that stands out to me is from the Alekhine-Capablanca match in 1927, when the underdog, Alekhine, beat Capablanca with it in game one.
At least in Classical chess, but he will probably play in the World Rapid and World Blitz Championships in the end of December.
