I think there is a problem with my calculation method. I have had several situations lately where I thought for a long time on my move and was sure that I had come up with a great move, usually an attacking move, that could not be refuted. And from time to time I find that I completely miss what would in retrospect be an obvious opponent response. Here are two examples:
In this game, I won because my attacking move was correct. However, I didn't calculate the variation my opponent played, which is particularly embarrassing because it was a CC game:
In this game, my miscalculation cost me the win in a very good position:
As you can see, I don't calculate very well. In games when calculating, I often have a very hard time visualizing the position that is about to happen. Is there any way I can improve my calculation? I thank all who respond.
