Fix online chess checkmate confirmation

I just noticed something about online chess.  I was playing a game and made a move and before selecting the 'confirm move' button I noticed that the move said Ra1#.  The '#' symbol confirmed the checkmate before I could even play the move.

I don't think the game should tell you that your move wins the game.  There may be a situation where a player moves a piece to put the enemy king in check, might think that it is not really checkmate when it is and decide to play another move.  A player might also 'luck' into the checkmate by misclicking the move he wants to make.  Both of these scenarios may seem unlikely, but these situations will still occur a significant number of times and there is no reason for the game server to give you information that you make a winning move before you actually playing the move.

this has come up before. I doubt it's a priority  for whoever has to fix it

not sure what your point is.  they should make it a priority then.

My point is live with it, or tilt at windmills. They are not going to make it a priority.

says who?  is there a moderator that made a post that it will never be changed?  I myself think it should be changed and that is why I made this post.  I do not think this is a Don Quixote situation btw lol.

Some people have have mentioned it in the past.  Once I was even using the board and I was feeling tired and lazy and was glancing at the move list looking for the # (I knew it was coming soon haha).

But... it's not really that much help is it?  Has anyone really ever looked at a position and though "hmm this position isn't clear to me... oh wait it's checkmate silly me"

chesshole

Yeah I suppose it isn't much help overall.  The fact that you can also use the 'analyze position' button to find the '#' symbol almost makes it a moot point I suppose.  It just seemed weird to me that the game would tell you it's game over before it is over lol.

The server doesn't give any information before you make the move. On the contrary, even if you had yet to submit the move you made, it is only responding to the move you made.

It's job is to use the correct notation to record the moves for the game.

If the move results in a mere check, then it will show the + check symbol.

If the move is castling on the king side, then O-O.

If it is a8=Q

or EP

or whatever the correct notation for that specific move you already made is, it is going to do its job and record it.

It is only responding with output to the input you have supplied it.

There is no unfair advantage as it records the moves the same way for each player.

It does give information because you haven't played the move yet.  Like I said there might be a situation where you place a move but then second-guess yourself.  It may be correct notation but it still gives you information.  I didn't say there was unfair advantage.
