A family of Meerkats pictured at the Jersey Zoo founded by the famous naturalist and
conservationist Gerald Durrell.Well worth a visit. The Island of Jersey is one of the Channel Islands group quite close to France. Many years ago it was a part of France (Duchy of Normandy).Among the endangered species to be seen at the Zoo are primates including Gorillas and Orangutans.Well worth a visit if you are in the geographic proximity!Another historical fact is that the Channel Islands were the only part of the "British" allied territory. which was occupied by the Germans during the second World War.Jersey is a self-governing parliamentary democracy under a constitutional monarch( H.M. Queen Elizabeth 11) Who is constitutionally described as the Duke of Normandy!
