They should give us a chance to sign up for the deal over the weekend. People work during the week and go to school. It is Saturday and I want to test the features of the diamond plan, but it is showing it is 119 . 99, not the 60 they were advertising it for.
free trial vs black friday
since it's black friday now that %50 discount blocks the free trial offer.. how can use my free premium week at the moment?
Black Friday promotion should be over now and normal trials should be available

Why end it on Friday and not give people a chance to test out the features over the weekend?

The Black Friday offer started before Thanksgiving and ran through yesterday.

But I signed up on Thursday. I didn't see the offer and wanted to try out the features this weekend. With no free 7 day trial, how do you expect us to decide if we want to sign up or not?

You snooze, you lose, buddy. That's life. The world does not start and stop at your personal convenience. Either pay up now, or wait until next year. I took the deal and got half off. You waited and lost out. Take the "L" and move on. Stop crying here.
Actually, I am NOT snoozing. I am wide awake wanting to test out the features. If they want the membership they should make it available till the end of the weekend. Some of us go to school and work, while you are "snoozing" during the week. The weekend is a time of rest and relaxation. Perfect time to test out services and pay for membership.
well, it's over now. good riddance..
thing is; you are selling discounted premium but disabling the chance to try it out. and expecting them to buy something without even trying it.. buying one year of subscription.. completely blindfolded.
after my trial ended, I'll probably say that I should have taken that offer already.. sigh*

Yea, I don't understand it either. $5/month is not a bad deal if we can sample it for a couple days and see if we like it. Instead of 7 day free trial, they could just make it a 12/6-12/7 (2025) weekend trial. You make your decision over the weekend by the end of 12/7.
But without being able to try the features this weekend, my only choice is to get the 7 day free trial for 120. If I save half now, I might use that money later to get a chessable course or two after using their coaching and puzzles in the diamond membership. They are hiding the fruits of their labor.
Kind of a hot take but I don't think premium is worth it just because there is another website for free puzzles and lessons right around the corner esp. considering gold is 50 euros for a year and diamond is 129 euros for a year. The only good thing about premium is the game review but thats about it... But correct me if I'm wrong I like criticism

Sure, but I just need the 50% off offer so I can try out the features. Right now, I am using the coaching bots and I kind of like them just using the free account. What coaching stuff are free users missing out on with the diamond membership??
Why doesn't chess.com at least show us what the paid features do? (Pay 50% for secrets in a box during the work week.) But then the weekend comes and they jack the price back up to 120 without any clue what is in it. They need a new marketing team.
Current marketing strategy, "If we build it, they will come."
Future marketing strategy, "If we build it, give 50% off over the weekend, let users sample and try the features, they will not only come but pay and be returning customers for other services."
Head marketing Einstein, "No. We must put up a fortress and not let anyone else see what we are doing. We will market our 50% off offer when people are at work and at school Monday to Friday. On Saturday and Sunday they will have to pay 120."
Next, they will have a New Year's special also, but they will wait until Wednesday. You arrive home on New Year's day after celebrating at Times Square and see the offer. "Today only on Wednesday get Diamond membership and a (hypothetical) reduced price."
You ask about it the next day, and then Martin Stahl replies, "Well it was a limited time offer, we decided to wait for New Year's Eve when people already had plans and were not going to be on our site that much."
Remember guys, if you build it, promote it, and market it at a reasonable price, you will get repeat customers. Not letting us try it out this weekend is a business 101 blunder.

The site has been running since 2007. It has had premium plans since shortly after that. They changed pricing a few years ago and started offering occasional sales, such as Black Friday, a couple of years ago I believe. They will likely have more in the future. Someone missing the week+ long offer isn't a business blunder.
It should also be noted the offer did not have a trial.
