Kinda disappointed this one didn't get more replies - I really thought it was an interesting idea.
Guess we'll see what the future holds.

I think the tournament would be brilliant fun!
And deadly.... I would suggest -- old 'Human' rules though -- Adjournment and consultation (let the Human players call a 'Time-Out' and go study with their 'Seconds'! (A.K.A. today -- what does our 'A.I.' say? -- very Kasparov -- he believed (it did 'look' odd though!) that 'Humans' augmented Deep Blue for 'its' win. (However the 'Alpha GO' story makes all doubts about computers vs. Humans seem silly -- sorry Chess lovers (like me!) but Wei Chi is far scarier a game to Master -- A.I. can beat any Human Chess player -- without pauses -- but: it was never believed A.I. could 'touch' the Human champion of 'GO"! So much for that!
...but back to the brilliant idea: Yes lets have a A.I. vs Human tournament!!! ('Stream it' if it makes more palatable to the audience of modern 'chess'.) -- but the Humans get to hit 'pause' in a game -- and go consult their 'A.I.' -- I bet the Humans win -- because a Human player would not blindly follow the 'program' -- they would add some 'spice' the A.I. would eventually not get! (But the KEY is the break time -- A.I. does not need rest, food, etc. -- @#%! that unfair advantage! Make the programmers wait beside their machine as the Human players discuss the game, check the records, eat, sleep, and have real fun playing Chess!)
i love how computers will go at depth 99 is future under a sec and see trillions of positions in a sec and we will play them

I literally did not know what 'stockfish' was until a few months ago (never even 'went there' -- googled it -- do not ever 'want' it either!) -- have no interest in 'being taught' by a tool! -- a program! Too many Chess Players, I fear, today, are just 'reciting' what they memorized from a series of games some program told them were the 'optimal' moves... so... where exactly does the actual human player come in, in those sort of 'victories'???
Sad.

Just havin some thoughts on how chess might develop in the future. There’s been notable games before, I can only remember watching Kasparov & Deep Blue but what I’m wondering is if you think one day there will come a time when it’s more of an acceptable or recognized format for tournaments. Like if there were 3 different AI’s any human opponents globally - but instead of Us vs Us, it’s ‘Us & Them’ That might really gain some respect, considering, they also won human tournaments as well.
Of course it’d be something that’s prepared for differently than a normal tournament - but with the universal advancement of computer AI, I believe a lot of great minds would come together since there’s no competition between each other. Kind of like the Chess Olympiad, sounds exciting. It would be even more exciting live and not online, maybe with one of those chess boards that automatically moves. If they really wanted to go over the top there would be a voice and everything 🤣
Also came up with a few names, but actually looking forward to some of the witty ones experienced players might have.
- Chess Automation Tournament [CAT]
- Intelligent Software Event [ISE]
- Man vs Machine [MvM 2021]
* I didn’t really research this idea beforehand so if there’s already is something like it, my apologies. It just seems like there were only single matches, Kasparov - if only those two, not actual tournaments vs CPU engines.
