Yeah I understand what your saying but it's your responsibility to provide a good internet connection. It's really not the sites fault. Good luck Doc.

Look Doc you wrote that "sometimes for whatever reason my internet wifi isn't on the ball like yours must be Chess.com". All I said was that your connection must not be very good. I didn't say that you need to be an internet provider. If your violating the Fair Play Policy because you are abandoning games then either your purposely abandoning games or your bad internet connection is causing you to abandon games. Why don't you just care of things at your end and stop complaining.

I have read of folks in the past who were forced to go back to a wired (ethernet) connection in order to play here.  Of course if you are playing on your phone or a tablet, that's not going to work, but maybe a thought for the future if you are on a PC?

As a paying member I would like to choose whom I play, I not a very good player with a rating in the1400's.So many non paying members clearly cheat, and I always look at their profile prior to starting a game, if to me a player is an possible cheater, i.e. has ratings between 500 and 1800 ( one day being a complete novice and the next a Grand Master ) with comments stating that he / she cheats, or despite numerous viewings none are shown, indicating they have been deleted. I decline to play them.

The problem arises that in doing so I have had my account restricted and points removed from my rating, with the added insult that admin tell me that I have abandoned games against 'Fair Play '
Instead of addressing the problem and protecting paying members from cheats who make no contribution to this site, if you report someone for cheating it's part of the policy to have the reply ' We will look into it ' and nothing else is heard.
Paying members should not be penalised for refusing to play cheats, non paying members should not be able to make any comments on their profile or anyone else's, nor should they be able to delete any comments that are made on their profile.
I have asked for a refund and will revert to a basic membership, and or join another club with a policy that puts paying members first.

I can understand Dr Clear’s frustration. If you read the message he is receiving, it can easily be perceived as inferring intent on his part. No one likes to have their character called into question, especially when the accusations are incorrect. Perhaps a slight change of wording or additional sentence to the message would fix this issue. After all, from a business model perspective, if they are not paying customers today, they may be tomorrow.

Your right you don't get it.

It may you 30 seconds to examine someone's profile, it takes me 10 seconds max to assess if they are undesirable opponent's. So you think it's ok for a paying member to entered into a game against someone who has numerous comments against them of cheating / time wasting etc, who pays nothing and if they decline they are penalised ?

Well you can't in 10 seconds assess if somebody is a cheat or not. Accusation by members are usually wrong.

Every time I have lost a game due to abandonment I had been winning

Opponents sometimes start a game, then abandon/stall while their time goes down to zero minutes. (Without resigning)! I have to wait for 30 minutes. If I resign I lose the points! Why is this allowed???

You didn’t actually bump a 2 year old thread.
