A curse or a blessing?

Ryan_orourke1

a curse Yell it's so annoying watching people below even 1200 playing perfect openings.........chess should be played from actual knowledge

It is both a curse and a blessing. I suppose if one wants to play using what others have done in the past because they are not confident with their moves, then it is a good tool. I do not think one really learns from it. I thought this site did not allow outside help when playing a game. Why is that any different than using a chess software?

Wow, you don't really read the rules well do you? For the record... in ECHESS games, using a database IS allowed, and always has been. It is NOT allowed for Live Chess games.

As for not learning from them... why not?

I should think that all chess theory is based on past game history ?

It's great.  Using databases for CC chess has greatly improved my OTB playing almost as much as Tactics Trainer has.
