Great masters almost always play great chess. Kasparov might best Steinitz but I think that the latter would give him a good fight. A draw might be the best prediction.
Steinitz would avoid Kasparov who would win any match

You have to give Steinitz time to familiarize himself with modern times, information, theory, openings, etc. At that point, it's probably a tossup.
Kaspersky learned from Steinitz, so he would lose on purpose, out of sheer respect. He says so in Predecessors.
