Can we call him Praggy instead?

camter

Praggy will not be next World Champion. I have that on none other than the authority of renowned Chess Prophet Vlad (The Inhaler) Herceg, who clearly states that Wei Yi will be the next Champ.

Why would we call someone "El" something? We dont speak spanish.

camter

Of course, he is not Spanish, he is from either Brazil or India, (or is it both?) according to our Vlad.

The question is, will Praggy be able to beat Wei Yi?

Wei not?

I wonder if our author is aware of Praggy's sister. I would like to know his opinion of her becoming next Women's Champion.

dpnorman

No. Actually the likelihood of him ever being world champion is just as small as any other prodigy.

Best analogy is the situation with the two best French players: MVL and Étienne Bacrot. Bacrot was an incredible prodigy, with some calling him one of the best prodigies in history until his time. MVL was very strong as a young player as well, but not at such a young age as Bacrot. And now there is no doubt that Bacrot will never play in a World Championship, and, while being a Super-GM, is not one of the world elite, while on a good day, MVL can consider himself a top four or five player in the world and has the potential to win a candidates match and maybe contend for a title.

So at this age, one can never tell.

At last, someone has grasped the nettle and expressed an opinion.

Thank you, dp!

I've never heard of her.

How long before you become a GM? 1, 2 more years?

Maybe it'll be Mikhail Osipov

This is very good. My nephew could learn a thing or two from Mikhail Osipov.

No, I've conceded in a subsequent thread that I may be wrong about how easy it is to become a GM.

Why or how could Anand lead him astray?  He's an inspiration to a billion people in india and indian emigres around the world, one of the most elite players in the past 20 years.  He's probably the reason the kid is so into chess in the first place.

VladimirHerceg91

Because he's the bad boy of chess...

I have met many people from India, befriended some, and none of them are "bad boys", maybe only relatively speaking compared to other Indians Anand is a bad boy. Indians are among the nicest most civilized people in the world.

Also this makes me laugh uncontrollably for some reason:

Update: Wei Yi has been killing it as of late. He's at 2746 in live ratings right now. Will he be WC within the next 2 years?
