how many classical games have you played in the same day? (OTB)

The only similar tournaments i played in lasted 3 days at the weekend. I always took a 1/2 point bye in Round 1 on Friday evening then played the 3 rounds on Saturday. If i did at least 'OK' in those then i'd come back for the 2 final rounds on Sunday.

The only classical OTB tournaments I have ever experienced are 2 classical games a day (more accurately, 1 on a Friday night, 2 on Saturday, 2 on Sunday), sometimes 3 in a day (for a one-day tournament). I am merely a low-rated middle-aged patzer, but even at my level, with games that don’t use up all the time, playing 3 OTB games in one day is very mentally exhausting. Two seems fine if you get a decent break between them.

I have played in two 5 game in a day tournaments, both times hitting the top 5.

One of the difficult things in these tournaments is play the next game while forgetting the previous one either it was a very good win or a bad defeat. Sometimes with only 1 hour between 2 games that seems impossible. You have to start the next game forgetting that you blundered horribly in the previous one. Eventually you learn to do that too

That's so true. I certainly need to work on that.

I will consider your diet advices thumbup.png
