You learned how the pieces move three months ago? Looks like we have a GM in the making.

I already knew most pieces moves but learned about castle and en-passant three months ago. I doubt I'll ever be a GM because I'm too old so my learning curve will necessarily stagnate at some point and also that lockdown will soon come to an end. grin.png

Its pretty good for 3 months. but have in mind that 1300 rapid equals 1000-1100 blitz whitch equals 1100 fide rating. I think its about average chess player.

Really? I did some Googling about this before and according to the results showing in this survey : https://www.chess.com/article/view/chesscom-rating-comparisons , 1300 in Rapid is ~1150 Blitz and ~1400 FIDE.

That's from Jan 2014.

Anyone who has been on this site obsessively, and has wasted their life here, remembers that in late 2014 (IIRC) they boosted everyone's rapid rating between something like 100 and 500 points (depending on your rating). They did it because (again IIRC) the glass ceiling was about 2000 because of cheating, so after what I assume an improvement in cheat detection they altered active player's ratings overnight.

There are those who's truthfulness we might doubt a bit but hey, whatever floats their boat.

I've posted an updated one from 2019 (https://chessgoals.com/rating-comparison/), it doesn't seem very different.

He has 400 rapid games on his record and a gradual increase in his rating graph from a beginner-like rating to 1300.

If he's lying, then he put enough work into faking it that I'll believe him anyway, because he earned it, lol

I didn't know this existed, this is a nice reference, thanks for the link

I think your improvement is fast by the way, good job.

My friend (Username - "0pend0wn" That is zero and not the alphabet O) touched 1700 in just 3 years and went back to 1300 after sometime. Natural intellectual power plays an important role.

Thanks I appreciate the comment. By the way I have way more than 400 games, at least double since I started playing on other platforms as well.

hello

Hello Jopscky,

I want to apologize for my unfair remarks earlier. I didn't realize that you had played over 400 rapid games in such a limited amount of time. The fact that you were able to climb your rapid rating up from the 900's to 1300+ in only three months is truly incredible and I would like to congratulate you. Good luck and stay healthy!

No worries, the "mea culpa" is classy from you. Thank you for the kind words and have a nice day happy.png

Wow really good job, I only yesterday hit my 1300 rating and it's been 2 years lol

Almost 1800 in 6 months 😛
NMRhino
I says you have been playing for 8 months not 6

The other 2 months I wasn’t really playing rapid so I don’t really consider it. I started playing seriously and studying on January 24th.

I think you have a knack for it. I’ve been stuck at 1300 for  a while now, and it took me 5 yrs to get there. I’ve  almost broke 1400 a few times, but you’ll probably be a 1600 soon.

I'm about 1300 on chess.com and according to the site, I'm in the 90th percentile of rapid chess.com players. Obviously, take that with a grain of salt as it includes a whole bunch of inactive players who are in the low 700s and 800s. It really depends on what you're  comparing yourself to and what your goals are for chess. Compared to the general chess.com population, if you're hanging around 1200-1400 you're way comfortably better than the majority if I drew a random sample of 100 people. If you're really serious about chess and are intentional about being in the 1800s, you have some work to do.
