A common problem is that 12 hr cycle for all threads. It becomes US & THEM.....day people and night people.

I'll spell it out. Politcs and religion are forbidden. A politics thread was allowed to run for a little while but it became bad tempered and unpleasant. Therefore, it was locked. The problem with politics is that it promotes bad tempered argument between ignorant people.

The other person was called Historyteacher2. He disappeared. Some say he was never here in the first place. Some say he comes and goes like the mist on the hills. All I know is that he said he wasn't coming back and that he was an honest person.
A recent thread here was locked. It started in general chess discussion, was moved to off topic then locked. The thread started out as a discussion of the uneven enforcement of chess.com rules for forums and devolved after several days into something else as forums tend to do. We were warned at one point by a mod who decided we needed direction although his "directions" were hazy.
We actually were given some leeway as the topic veered into verboten areas with voices occasionally rising above whispers but no where near what some topics here have been shown to be capable of.
I have spent some time with my detective hat on trying to discern where we went afoul of the law. It is unclear to me. That it was locked without explanation (maybe the OP was told) is no surprise to me as I have been muted more than once without warning and without being read my rights. This is a constant occurrence here lately.
I am not attempting to revive the corpse, I would, however, like to know what the heck?
If it's the one I think it was, it had veered into a political discussion for a number of pages, which is a prohibited topic in the forums, even in Off Topic.
