How about: Study hard. It's said to become a master at anything you have to put in 10,000 hours of practice. That's equivalent to four years of a full time job and should earn you at least your first FIDE title. Keep studying to advance. There is no shortcut unless your brain is naturally wired to precisely calculate positions out to x-number of moves and you have perfect visualization.

Don't let anyone invalidate your goals.
