Play longer time control?

I don't like winning on time if there was play left in the position. It just feels wrong.

Yeah, GM+ level

(roflcopter :D oh man...)

To answer the question... I agree with ivandh, if 1 day isn't enough, play games with more days/move.

Also, my opinion is that you shouldn't care much about your rating, it's just a number... Having fun is more important imo (at least at non-pro level)

I plugged it into my engine, will come back in an hour or so and see what the analysis says.

I always resent being given rating points for "winning" on time. I feel like no rating points should be given for such a win, but I also realize that losing rating points is the incentive for remaining in play.

You can turn automatic win claiming on time off.

Oh, cool!

If you're not dedicated enough to be glued to this site 24/7 then frankly you deserve to lose on time.

Feel sorry for those in tournaments,I am in one where the poor guy must have just missed his moves which gave me his games but he made it in time to play most of his others, kind of feel guilty but hope he still beats my main rivals as he can't now quailfy(Pleased he is still competing!)

I'd rather finish a game than win on time, but if points weren't given, you'd find a lot more timed out games.

I enjoy winning on time, and I play 10 minute games.  Time is another variable to the game, and in my opinion the quickest way to hone the senses and decision making.  It hones in on the ability to think quickly, analysing all the positions at a more rapid pace than with an extended time limit.

Even with failure lies within success or something like that.  In each of your losses is a chance to hone in on your end game moves, and especially king steps.

This is just my opinion.

I often think when we are mad at others, or anything projected towards others we are projecting our internal feelings onto another.

Chess is a lot like life, and we get what we ask for in life and chess.  Think about it, but just don't take too long or you might lose.  Pun intended.

I prefer to lose more than win, especially to people more skillful than myself.  It allows for a chance to learn and grow the game for myself.  Those games lost on time are a great tool for self analysis and gameplay choice.

Remember, you choose which settings you like.  I can not stand 30 minute games or longer, when I could play many more games in that same timeframe.

Win or lose, it is all learning.
