@Reb titles earned from defeating mere mortals are far below his levels of playing strength and, more importantly, his ego.
Getting closer to 2000!!

Yeah, OTB long-time tournaments aren't well suited for beginners, but lots of the beginners tournaments are allegro or blitz (well I guess I may be wrong because most of the shorter time control tournaments I've played in are for children). But still, I think OTB tournaments are not as big a deal as they are thought on the internet (just my opinion) OTB ratings could be quite inaccurate, as you wouldn't play in then as often as internet ones.
I have no way to get money for a coach, which is the problem itself...
Ditch your chess.com membership and use that money to get a cheap coach.

Congratz man. Now i think you have to imrpove rapid in order to improve blitz at least thats my plan we share same goal.

99 more points! just reached 1900. I feel like these points are going to be very hard.
I hope you try OTB chess some day : this is a great experience !

Great, 2 months from 1800 to 1900 and you already have wins vs 1900+. It wont be that hard, keep the pace you are doing superb and with little luck by spring we will be 2 000 i have to really study now.
@Adis,
He doesn't 'suck in Live Standard and CC'
He is rated 1300+! This is much higher than the chess.com average, by the way. And he's even better at blitz- a 1900 rating is impressive (though blitz ratings are just not accurate here)
Im not using an engine! My Win Loss percentage is actually 48%-48% (4% draws)
I see what you guys are saying about blitz chess. I am going to play in my first tournament game in a couple months so I'll see if I am sufficiently prepared for longer time controls.
I'm going to have to disagree with xman720 in regard to his 1x1 multiplication table analogy for blitz chess. I personally think that blitz chess is very beneficial for positional play, tactics, and strategy. There is probably not as much calculating overall as standard play but I do find myself calculating a couple times every game at key positions. My tactis trainer has improved from around 700 to 1700 soley from practicing tactics in blitz games. Although you might not have as much time to consider all strategical options, blitz chess teaches you how to recognize and exploit thematic weaknesses that occur in different positions. At 5 minute time controls above the 1200 rating mark, it is very rare that "fast moves" and "good connection" is what wins the game. Games above this level are most often won and lost on strategy.
I noticed that you suck in live standard, CC chess and tactics. Obviously, you are maybe only fast player and win games on time, not because of your "knowledge ".You would probably lose most OTB games against a serious player.
And, if you see, Catkeson has played only one CC, which he won.
So obviously, this rating isn't accurate.

This is one of his many interesting games.Clearly won by strategy, not time or connenction.

CC is not indicator for players strentch. But for internet chess Blitz is. I get lazy even in Rapid 15/10 min game (online) and got distracted by pretty much everything. In blitz however i stay focused all the time. It requiares high chess skills to be able to flag your opponent at that level. I often encounter very quick, even quicker than me players, lower rated than me and they get destroyed before half their time. You have to play good and make him think and lose on time. In OTB however it is a whole different - you are focused and you play serious in all time controls.
By the way his Tactic is better than yours.

I dont play standard seriously. I haven't played a standard game seriously since I was rated around 1200 blitz. I actually have been using it recently on blindfold mode to try and get better visual skills. Most of my blindfold games I lose within 20 moves. I just don't have the patience to play a 15+10 or 30 minute game. I think 10 minute blitz games give you plenty of time to think. I played an 1800 standard player a couple months ago in an unrated game and beat him pretty easily. I think I would be somewhere in the 1700-1900 range if i took standard seriously. My tactics are a little low but I have been working on them! Notice I am at my all time high and my rating has been steadily increasing. I would try to get my standard rating up but I don't really care about it that much and it would take forever because each game lasts like 45 minutes.

I started playing standard games seriously. I kind of like them actually. I never have to worry about running out of time which is nice.

the higher you get the harder it is to improve.
i went from 900 to 1600 my first year, and then second year was 1600 to mid 1800s.
Actually the opposite is true, since once you get to 2000, you no longer need to figure out what you need to figure out. The motivation isn't there, and it does take a bit longer, but it is easier for the higher-rated to improve, also because they are proven talents.
I know what I need to know to get to 3150 playing strength, with the endgame mopping up the other 150 points. Perfect play is 3500 and I'm invinicible through around move 10-12, move 20+ in some lines. Even if you take me out of my book, I play the opening well enough on instinct that I can outplay all but the most prepared opponents, and once I see a line I run it through Fritz until I have it at the 3500 level in my repertoire.
So why arent you a titled ( OTB ) player if you are so good ?
