"Lets be honest" heh.
Ok, saying "gg" after your opponent blunders is a dick move.

Have you considered you might be a bit oversensitive? It boggles the mind how people take these things as an insult or some sort of disrespect.
Edit: Didn't get the quotation, what did it meant?
Doesn't bother me at all. Just letting you know it's rude.
Boggles my mind if you think you're clever for trying to paint it a different color.
Pointing out an obvious blunder by saying "gg" after someone makes it is "rubbing it in." "gg" is said at the end of online games (not just chess of course) as a sort of handshake after it's over, not during a game after a big mistake.
Saying gg after a blunder is intentionally winding your opponent up. No doubt about it, and definitely rude and unsporting.

Exactly my point. You already feel the need to attack me personally and my intelectual capabilities because my opinion differs from yours.

Just, no. You may consider it rude/unsporting, which I can perfectly understand, but calling it intentionally winding up, then you are being intelectually dishonest.
Anyway, what am I doing in the forums? I should know better. I can take it to PM if anyone is interested, doesn't really matter. Have a good day
Nope, why else would you say it?
I could say gg as a game starts because you have no chance of beating me, but I'm sure you wouldn't appreciate it.
I explained afterwards that I meant no harm by it, just as I've said here. I honestly liked the game. But since you've brought it to my attention, I agree, it can be perceived as very rude. Still doesn't mean it was my intention to mess with my opponent.
I dunno Khallyx, your avatar seems pretty cheeky to me...
Obviously, I use it to offend without even saying a word
Try saying that OTB before the opponent resigns or you checkmate him - I guess you better have plastic pieces so they don't crack when thrown violently on the ground.
What annoys me (as if I were not annoyed enough already) is having an opponent say "gg", when the game was decided by a mistake on my part which would shame a beginner. By what consideration is such a game a good game?

Agree, I only say gg after an intense fight that ended in a draw or a loss for me. That's what made it "good", of course not the quality of the game.

Yeah, well, it's become a kind of unspoken code in many virtual games. It doesn't mean "that was a good game" it's just a sign of sportsmanship or respect, like "thanks for playing a game with me."
This is hilarious. On one side we have the kids who are taught in chess club that saying 'Good game' is necessary and not saying it is being a bad sport. Then on the other side we have a bunch of immature sounding people whining about someone who they will likely never ever see 'rubbing it in'.
Umm, ok? Really?
Don't let it ruin your day, thanks.
If the opponent says gg before a game ends I would agree that's pretty rude/disrespectful. Even if you have an advantage it's not over until the king is checkmated, and I've seen a lot of pretty big hooks in completely lost positions (usually in blitz games but sometimes OTB as well). However saying gg after a game, even if it was decided by a blunder, is the courteous thing to do to be respectful to your opponent and to be a well mannered chess player, in my opinion.
The "good game" rule is why I don't go to OTB tournaments much. Once i went and a guy said good game after the game and offered me a handshake. I immediately threw a cup of water in his face and ripped up my notation and walked away. Such manners are frowned upon, I just happened to be a victim of then and didn't like it.
For me, saying gg after Ne3 (#113) is impolite. White can say it, but black shouldn't.
