Giving up an advantage

I was curious as to what any stronger players have to say, about the idea of giving up a slight advantage in a position, that is nearly impossible to calculate the best move for by a person, whether by chess principles or trying to think like an engine, and relinquishing it by force, for a drawn position that is easier to choose moves for, from both principle and calculation ?

If you are in a tournament and the stakes is high if you lose you can consider the safe drawish position than with a slight edge and you have a little time on the clock.

If that's a casual game you can go all out!
