The thing about these good bye forums is that when they close their account all their content on the site disappears.

That's not so.

Unless they were muted when they closes their own accounts, their content remains.  When Chess.com closes their account their conent disappears by default unless Chess.con, for some reason, decides to allow it to stay.

When I closed my previous account,my content all disappeared.

Then you were muted for some reason after closing the account.

I wonder why I'm feeling so happy right now...

Don't see why almost everyone here are beings jerks. Good luck kingofshedinjas. I've taken two 3 month leaves from chess and they did good for me. Hope they can do the same for you!

The title really reminds me of a phrase I heard (don't remember where) "Goodbye, cruel world"....... o_0

There is absolutely no difference whatsoever in the quality of the forums on Chess.com and the quality of forums virtually everywhere else. Got something to do with people being the same everywhere, I suppose.

Many people get paid to develop a product here that millions use for free. I mainly play chess on chess.com, for recreation. I am not sure what other free services I actually need other than an opponent to play ;) Thanks Chess.com for giving me that!

There are probably quite a few 'Goodbye Cruel Chess.com' threads per week here; this is the first one (and the last I hope!) I have posted in. OP, whatever makes you happy do it and good luck to you.

Ok, I'll pass this message on to ilikeflags.

The apology thread seems to be a new course they're taking at Troll University

Not really, but it may be the case that people are being influenced by others in the group.

For the record though, apology threads already existed way before TrollU:

But you were one of the professors teaching at Troll University? I swear I just saw a "sorry for my ways, I'll be changing" thread like a week or so ago from one of your students?

macer75

Yes, that would be from RNA. But he's also a professor, and he's actually doing a lot more of the teaching than I am.

trysts

Are you on some kind of troll sabbatical or something?

macer75

Well... I have been somewhat busy lately. Plus, RNA is doing a pretty good job himself, so there isn't really too much that I need to do.

trysts

Really...so you trust him to guide all those students into the real world of trolling?

sirrichardburton

I have a few members i would like u to take with you.....Cool
