Your maneuver is hard to see. In my opinion it was simpler to mate in 5. 1. Kf3 g4+ 2. Ke2 g3 3. Kd2 g2 4. Kc2 g1=Q 5. Qb2#

Exactlyy, it’s a flawed tactic if it doesn’t mention mate in 4 because I found this method to be easiest but it’s mate in 5. And it’s not difficult tongue.png

mate in 4 is a shorter mate

Yeah but the instruction was "How would you win in the position?", there are many ways to win lol. Good try nonetheless

but we need to find shorter way to win

Puzzle has two correct solutions (kh5 & kf5) because both of them lead to M4. This is winning position anyway and thats why your question should be can you find mate in four or what move leads to a quickest mate. Trick is to not stalemate your opponent and thats why first move should be a king move. Out of six possible king moves one (taking the pawn) leads to stalemate, two to M4 and other two(kf3, kg3 & kh3) prolong the game by either giving a check or it gets us back to the starting position. you want to make it one move only put a pawn on either h5 or f5 square so the king would have to go to another one. If there are flaws to my logic please correct me :)

not easy way

Ifyou play kf3,kh3,kg3 on the first move then g4 then it will lead to a draw

Avatar of srbchess2012

yes kh5 and kf55 both are possible
