it just makes me hate myself. Anybody else have this problem?

Don't know you well enough to hate you but tell us a little more about yourself.    The whining makes me think I might be starting to feel a tiny bit of dislike.

Best thing to do is to get really good at chess.

Then get really good at science and build at time machine.

Then go back in time to now and see your future grandmaster self so you will be motivated.

Elastico_2

I can win, but I feel like sometimes I can't win.

My only tip is that if you can find a chess club near you, start playing there if the people there accept you and are happy to play against you. (Unfortunately, I have a hater group comprised of people who are happy to b**ch and spread rumours about me amongst themselves. I am under 18, and a lot of the clubs around my area tend to look down upon juniors. There's only one club that's friendly towards most juniors, and unfortunately the juniors there are part of the hater group.)

Ermm...when that many people around you seem to be "haters", maybe it's time to check the mirror.

I stopped playing 35 years ago because I was getting worse, not better, and now I regret it. I've just started playing again. Don't make the same mistake I did.

A lot depends on the character of your teachers and the people you play.

I've been learning chess for about 3 months. I came here after ditching another chess web site. Their version of tactics trainer would present a puzzle and ask for the best move. If you get it wrong it blasts "WRONG" at you in all capital red letters, then half second later erases the board and presents the next puzzle. No chance to try again, no ability to analyze after, and no learning for me.

I got very frustrated after doing those puzzles and getting nothing but WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG. That web site is made by a chess sadist.

Choose carefully who you play.
