Has anyone ever played a brilliant move??
yes today i played a brilliant move . the knight sacrifice . u can clearly see the series of moves for checkmate thereafter by using queen and rook
In the French defense, advanced variation after moving your knight to c6 and bishop to d7 if your opponent moves his bishop to b5, there is a tactic where you can just take the pawn on e5 with you knight because if he plays Bxd7+ you play Nxd7 retake with your knight and moving out of danger at the same time, if he plays dxe5, capturing your knight with his pawn then you can just play Bxb5 winning his bishop, so either way you are up a pawn.
I play the French defense often, and thus have probably hit this one 10 times at least and been awarded a brilliant move each time.
I (461) played my friend (365) and had a brilliant move.

I've been a chess.com member for just over a year. I just played my first brilliant move. I hope the next one doesn't take another Year.
I just had 2 in one game and they were on purpose! Usually though it's like 1 every couple hundred games.
I've played one brilliant move in the 2000+ games I've played.. And it was the most obvious move to make! Absolutely bizarre.
About half the "brilliant" moves of mine that I've come across have been not only obvious but forced.
