How can you even like backgammon after playing chess , seriously !?

Recently I've taken up backgammon, just to see and try to understand why so many people are fascinated about the game and let me tell you, I'm not impressed.

The game is sooo boring , all you have to do is just run! The faster the better., block, then run again. Sure there's some strategic play to it BUT BUT I wouldn't complain and would actually admire that simple strategic skill if there were no *$&^Ing Dice! I mean it's just gambling, horrible, it's like playing classical chess , improving your position step by step 2 hours passed, you taking the lead and suddenly someone comes and shuffles the board and all of a sudden you are 5 moves from being checkmated and you have to play this position now !

You see what I mean? It's just horrible, when you put your skills in to something and then BOOM SURPRISE MOTHER  !
