You didn't "suddenly" get bad. The badness was always within you, deep down, waiting to come out ![]()
How did I suddenly get so bad?
I could teach a masterclass in how to be abysmal at the game of chess.
At one point not long ago I was under the delusion that I was somewhat good at chess, because I always beat my family members.
But in reality, I have no skill, my brother and father are simply worse.
I was doing pretty well for the first month of chess. Then, yesterday, I was dealt the 5 mightiest blows I've ever gotten on this site, in a row. I almost threw in the towel right then and there. But, everyone has bad days, so it's all good lol
The tilted is a real thing, you make stupid moves without even noticing it but don’t think about rating and just play.
Play blitz, people say it’s bad for learning but that’s the only thing I do and it’s gotten me this far. I’m thinking about starting to study openings but I just don’t have the motivation
I too suck badly! I'm 44 and i play since 7 but i always was bad. I feel that i always make the same moves and it hets borring. Sometimes i hate it. I have no ideea about oppenings....
There are plenty of nice YouTube channels that give you tones of information on stuff like openings and commentary of games/tournaments. Here are some channels that I watch: Krishna Prem (chessopenings.com), GothamChess, agadmator's Chess Channel, ChessBase India, Northernlion, and Hikaru Nakmoura's channels. Some days I can't play at all and some days I feel like a grandmaster. I don't know why. Maybe it could be the amount of sleep or you just landed on some really strong opponents. I don't know if warming up against a bot could help or not, I haven't tried that. At one point I was playing really really really bad. I couldn't win a single game and that went on for over a week! I was 1200elo at my highest and now I'm at 900, but I use to struggle to win against a 700 or a 600. I don't know why that just happens but it does ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Hope that your problem is resolved soon!
