How do foulmouthed players get away with cursing on chess.com?

Hey there!

I have been reporting some cursing issues in the last couple of months. I reported 3 cases and one of the accounts have been immediately closed. Other two got just warnings. However, there was no difference in terms of abuse. Closed one belonged to a guy from Middle East.

Is there a discrimination? Or chess.com is more tolerant to other people who are from Europe, America, etc.

Anyway, I thought that I could publish their profile so everybody will be aware of these foulmouthed players.

The first guy's nickname is ***. Instead of his name he uses "T***". He is from Amsterdam, Netherlands. And his page is:

The second guy's nickname is ***. His name is "***". He is from Bucharest, Romania.

No naming and shaming allowed. Mod.

Damned if I know.

Its funny, I had the same issue with the first guy you mentioned above.  I blocked him, I believe.

Thank you very much THETUBESTER. I have been trying to convince chess.com officers but it seems they don't wanna deal with them. I am paying for this website. This is not right. We don't deserve this. Their accounts should be closed.

I just had issue with a Slovenia or Bosnia guy, forget which... I believe no discrimination is present and it is based on case by case consideration and how recpetive/apologtic the offender presents him/herself to the staff here or how vulgar/repeptitive they are.  If they cannot be receptive to criticism from the opposite gender questioning them, there may lie the problem and reverse discrimination would be the issue.  There are no borders when it comes to idiots, I have found a**holes everywhere! Undecided

Blocking is not solving the issue my friend. When we play blitz games we most of the time deal with the time. It is frustrating to "disable chat" before everygame starts. On top of that, why would we lose our freedom to talk other chess.com players in a kindly manner because of a couple of bad apples ?

Pre_VizsIa

Grow up. Ignore the chat box in blitz games if opponents curse. Otherwise, disable chat (plenty of time).

biggina

get over it. be mature, theyre just words. also blocking members is not the samething as disabling chat. you can block specific players

PLAVIN81

This sort of thing is monitored by admin chess.com =if this persists thy will be suspended

Are you serious? Are you nine? I hope by "cursing" you mean "an extraordinary fit of grotesque racially/ sexually charged slurs aimed at yourself personally", not "o fcuk, didnt see that knight there!". I don't see how anyone can do this extensively with the filter they have on chat anyway. If the other player has time to type in swears that bypass the filter you can easily "x" out the chat box in less.

My last live game is with the second guy JohnRemind and I won't play chess here anymore unless their accounts get closed. I fed up with this nonsense.

I'm sorry guys but this is just ridiculous. What happened to freedom of speech? Is it really such a big deal that you need them banned from chess.com? If what they say really gets that big of a reaction out of you over the Internet.... then damn you have some other issues that need attention or something. I cannot see how this is such a big ordeal. If it offends you just block them, end of story...

No one is going to get banned for calling you a "butt hole". Stop being such a butt hole by demanding that everyone you don't like gets kicked off the site. I would laugh if someone said that to me because it is such a ridiculous thing to say.

Crazychessplaya

Aren't they "foulfingered" rather than "foulmouthed"?

kco

or "foulthought"

Does* it fit my definition? No, actually that sounds really funny. It seems to me like anyone who would open a dialogue with that line is only trying to get a reaction from you (much like the one you're giving now). Next time that happens, try laughing it off. And as a side note, if nobody gave a damn about swearing in the first place, then that would solve the problem swearing presents, eh?
