how do i get a " GM " ?

hello everyone , i am pretty new on the forum.

so my question is , how do i get a " GM " ? it`s about money ? skills ? seniority ?

To become GM title you need to be elo 2500 and 3 GM norms (3 high performances of tournament)

Getting to GM is very hard. There are only about 150-200 roughly in America.

I you have to ask, you'll never be a GM. I'ts that simple.

 I wouldn't get hung up on it. Paul Morphy never became a GM and he seemed to do OK.

Like most other skill sports and occupations, it requires HOURS EVERY DAY to get there.

Unlike most occupations, it doesn't pay well!

GM is a title awarded by FIDE, the international chess federation. Here are the requirements:

an International Arbiter must be officiating and the entry must include at least three GM titled players from different countries playing over a minimum of nine rounds with no less than 120 minutes thinking time per round. (en wikipedia)

Tournament Performance of above 2600

Currently, a player must have 2 GM norms to achieve the title, covering >27 games

2500 top rating

I thought there were less than 100 in the US. Since there are only 1600 in the whole world. Still, very difficult to do and almost always not worth the trouble.
