How do I prove I did not cheat?

So I am in the r/chess tournament and beat a NM which is my greatest achievement yet. A bunch of people said I cheated because they said I made a lot of #1 moves as per houdini but they were all basic moves... apparently moves 17-28 or so are suspicious? How would I go about proving I didn't cheat?

i dunno man, i mean black's Ne6 move was an oversight in the game, but your game against cedricchase on 8 August where you were a piece up with a totally won game after 15 moves, yet got checkmated in 2 moves provides an incredible contrast.

good luck with that anyway!

I am not a spiritual leader like the honorable BowerickWowbagger, but your game seems to me a reasonable game for a reasonably good player. Have you let their machine do the analysis? I would love to see what the big machine gives as remarks.

That game was sad Don. According to houdini I was +6 and I saw the free pawn and did not even think, just took taking me down to -5 and checkmate the next move. He was 1200 and I was up a minor piece so I thought itd be an easy win, EMBARRASSING.

@bron: I did miss a couple of moves apparently. I'll check when I get home from work.

Gold flame, you are not helping at all your case by referring to Houdini........

I am also in the /r/chess tournament... I don't think there is any way to prove you did not cheat, because how do you prove a negative?  I say let it go, Redditors would rather believe malice than you having a good day, the NM having a bad day.

When I was a USCF 12xx I beat an expert (he had like a 2007, it was 20+ years ago) over the board, so I know outliers occur... but sadly there really is no way to prove your not having cheated.

I thought cheating didn't exist in chess.com

Goldflame

@bron How so? I find it an amazing learning tool. I use it after almost all of my games to see where I did good or bad moves. I would highly suggest you download it!

hopefully, everything is ok.

i know when i was lower rated, i used to try really really hard against tougher opposition, and take easier games for granted.

I haven't seen any personally but I'm sure some do.

Don't think I would have seen that exchange but hey that's just me.

I was rather pissed at myself after loseing that game. I did like 50 tactics problems in a row lol. Thanks for the feedback.

I didn't see it at first but his E5 pawn had both my knight and bishop bottled up so I really wanted to remove it. 19. Bxe5 was probably the best  move. I had E6 overloaded after takin pawn with rook and swingin knight around with the nice pin on king.

I might be strange, but I always thought it is up to the accuser to prove guilt, not the defendant to prove his innocence.

bronsteinitz

These discussions go nowhere. No need to prove anything. For me it is very simple. This site is about love for the game and intellectual progress. The scores are meaningless, because it is always possible that the whole family is helping, or Houdini, or Karpov.... The only meaningful figure is your OTB one. I would forget about it...

Wait a minute - NM iFrancisco is not on here accusing Goldflame of cheating.  I doubt that James has accused anyone of cheating.  This is Goldflame suggesting that "a bunch of people" have accused him of cheating.

Black's Ne6 was a poor move and white did a perfect job of exploiting it.

Nope, It was not him. It was the reddit community who started the r/chess tourney.

Welcome to Reddit...

You are cheating by using Black magic...

:)

Bab3s

Black did not play carefully enough, not as carefully as an NM would normally play, after taking the d5-pawn and was duly punished, but nobody expects you to be able to dole out that punishment, no offense. I hate to say it, but you won't be able to escape the "cheater!" accusations after playing that far above your rating; all you have going for you is that the burden of proof is on the accusers.

A chess player is quite noble. He will not do any cheating if he is a good chess player also no one would suspect him. But if you ever do cheating, you will continue that way forever. So be friend with true!!!
