I mean, do they involve a series of individual games between members of the two teams, or are they a collective endeavor like Vote Chess, or are the something different from these alternatives. Thanks

I am running the House Chess competition in my school and in yesterday's semi two houses finished level, and I would like your advice on how to find a winner.
Board 1: house A
Board 2: house B
Board 3: stalemate
Do I award the match to house A because they won the top board?
or else: have the captains play each other again in a play-off?
or else: have the stalemate game played again?
Your help would be appreciated before I receive all sorts of complaints later!!
