How does life resemble chess?

Here are some I have come across:

If you don't make a move, you lose by default.

After the game, the king and the pawn go back to the same box.

Every pawn is a queen, waiting to be realised.

Even a pawn can take on a king.

Add on if you want to!

Life is like a game of chess.....changing with every move !

Each one of us is nothing but a pawn in the chess board of life !

1) most of the time, we see how the game of chess is played rather than who won the game. similarly in life, we see how we live our life.

2) in chess, we struggle to achieve our goal, similarly in life we too struggle to achieve our goal.

3) by facing difficult position in chess and learning from them, we become stronger player. similarly in life, we become stronger person by facing difficult situation and learning from them.

4)we all know that the game of chess will end sooner or later , no matter how it is played but still we play the game till the end. similarly in life, we know that we will die one day but still we live our life.

5) opening phase: most the time,it determines the course of the game.similarly , in life, our childhood determines the course of our life.

6)middle phase: in chess, we struggle to achieve our goals .  similarly, in life, during our adulthood, we struggle to achieve our goals.

7)end phase:  in chess,we know that the game is going to end soon. also, if your middle phase was very good then your end phase will be good too.similarly , in life, during our old age, we know that our death is near and if our adulthood was very good then you will enjoy yourself in old age.

8) just by moving one piece or a pawn, we affect the scenario on the chess board. similarly, in life, just by one small action, we affect our life as well as other's life.

9) understanding positions occuring in chess helps us to play well. similarly,  understanding the situation in life helps us to deal with it properly.

10)everyone has their own playing style in chess and we usually play moves which suits out playing styles. similarly , in life, we have our own set of moral values which helps us to take our decisions.

these are some ways in which life resemble chess.

You Must make developing move from the very start and fight for the center, otherwise u trapped between a Rock and a Hard place and the others decide how u r going to Play your game...

Chess and Life its essentially the same, strive for power....

Now they just hold there position. They form a big group and control an area. Hey have you seen Army Ants at a picnic. 1 small nothing but take over 200 and they want your lunch. Crush a couple and others still continue to try to walk away with your lunch.

but ants are not timid or meek. they are very courageous and at times very agressive. they give their life in battle.

I always thought this was the number one lesson to take from chess to other parts of your life. The mindset you need to make progress in chess beyond a certain point, to analyse your own mistakes and objectively evaluate your own game, is really useful.

With you having such a significantly higher rating than mine and the experience that comes with such under your belt, Thank you for sharing your insights on this. I take it as a confirmation of hopefully at least approaching the on ramp to the right road.

I agree and also confess it's been a fault/weakness for me more than my fair share. Was always one of those "must experience it for myself to know for sure" type of youths and in more recent years coming to really more profoundly appreciate the wise counsel of others' experience. There is a proverb, "Safety is in a multitude of counselors." I guess in chess, it may be like going over some masters' games to get a better feel for where the curves and holes are in the road.

But hopefully, there are many more games of chess and days of life ahead to this time learn more from the mistakes that are with us until the final move. Alas, if only I could have learned to both live and play more by "the book"!
