How has quarantine affected your Chess?

Hello ,so what I've found very interesting is how quarantine has affected my chess. Before the quarantine I was about 600 on chess.com (although ,had I played more games my rating would have been in the 400s range) and 900 on the other big chess site.Just to be more clear I play blitz on chess.com and rapid on the other site.

Today almost 2 months after quarantine and spending about 2 - 3h daily playing blitz and rapid I've just realized that my rating has gone up significantly. On chess.com my rating stands now at the 950's blitz and my rating on the other big site stands at 1400 rapid. That's about 500 - 600 elo points increase in just two months. What is more interesting is how I play now ,before I would always play the Spanish although I had no Idea what I was doing. Now the openings I play have reasoning behind them ,I put my knights in good squares ,bishops in good diagonals ,I try to improve center control ,In the endgame I move my king up the board ,I've learned how to mate with a king and a queen ,now I can often see mate in two if I am not pressured by time.I am still a beginner ,but after 2 months of daily chess I can say I am a better beginner than I used to be.

What changes have you noticed in the way you play the game?

yes

i cant play now

life before coronapocalypse allowed me a nice window in the mornings to play a couple of 30 min games; analyze; and even get in a nice workout afterwards

family was off at school and office (i work from home)

i was able to afford the luxury of playing chess with no encumbrances or distractions

now, with all these a-holes, i mean loving family members, at home, all the time, my chess mojo is all aflutter

Sorry man ,I didn't realize how difficult it can be for others to cope with the pandemic and the side issues it has caused. It was a mistake writing this from the position of a seventeen year old student ,that being me.

lol- my response was a bit “tongue in cheek” (but just a bit)

it is encouraging that players are making use of their time and improving rapidly

so when i get in the swing of things the opponents will be much stronger- which helps everyone

good luck

Still working so not much change except as said above; the lack of "me time " at home means less undistracted practice/games. I've had the odd chat with players from other countries about the virus which has been interesting. It's connects us all; if not in the most desirable way.

Quarantine has led me playing a ton of correspondence games and allowing myself to help others with Unlimited lessons offer .
