nah, it has to do with lack of legal moves. stalemate is not checkmate.
How is this a draw?
There is a message on the game explaining how it's a draw.
Bf7 could be the answer in a 'What is black's worst possible move?' puzzle.
Hi,
Since your opponent doesn't have any legal move and his king is not under attack it is considered a draw by stalemate.
I see. Thanks. It's because I didn't have them in check and they have no other legal moves but to put themselves in check.
Tricky one, huh? Hopefully I learn from it.
The King is not in check, but cannot move without entering check, thus the game is 'stalemated', or drawn.
This is somethig you won't fall for again given your material advantage, I'm sure!

At least you have the right attitude, most people say what a stupid rule it is when they first hear of it.
It's always something to think about when winning, along with not allowing them continual checks.
Hi All,
Can somebody please explain to me how this game finished a draw? http://www.chess.com/echess/game?id=74227040
Did I not put him in checkmate with my last move?
Is it something to do with repetition or having not taken a piece in a while?
Would appreciate any thoughts.
Thanks,
Bingo
