how is this a stalemate?

I was playing a game, and the opponent had the king left while I had many different pieces. I placed them in such a way(within 3 moves) such that the king could not move anywhere. (But the position where he was at was safe). is that considered stalemate?

Stalemate: a situation when a player cannot move any of its pieces without putting its own king in check (and it's his turn)
