How Lonnnnnnnng Untilllllllll V3???

Our pal chesstime107 seems to have disappeared along with his overlong code post.
Oh! too bad!

he will be back as the new (with less features) chesstime108
no pictures, email, and much much...less. :0

He tried to send me a message but I got a message upon opening that "this content has been removed."

It's here. At least it's here for diamond members. There's a "try the new chess.com" link that has been added. I've been on it for all of 2 minutes, so no report yet.

Well it's certainly not just a "lipstick on a pig" redo. I panicked a little bit when I couldn't find the opening explorer since I play correspondence chess, but it's there. Erik has a new name for correspondence chess; he just can't bring himself to call it what it is. Now it's "daily" chess; go figure. The tactics trainer has a hint mode now, and yes it does cost points to use it. Never did find the settings for the TT but I'm sure they're in there somewhere. Lots of slightly mysterious symbols that I'm afraid to click on. Overall looks like something you'd find on a tablet. More later, I need some sleep.

So the poll on how to rename 'Online Chess', which has been going on for literally years now, was all for naught?

Couple of things on tactics trainer (I did most of the work on it so please let us know any issues you encounter).
This icon here is a new mode we just added which allows you to do custom unrated training http://i.imgur.com/7XEVYYh.png.
For tactics settings you can click on this button here http://i.imgur.com/wz7LrhH.png which will bring up the basic settings dialog for tactics. The board settings have now been moved to a common board location in the main settings.
You should also notice now that tactics has a zero reload while playing. Hopefully that allows people to play more tactics without the annoying page reloads. Let us know what you think.

FYI - v3 should now be available to all premium members. There is a "Try the new Chess.com!" in the footer - click that link.
Please keep in mind - this is a work in progress! Many features are not yet available (notably Live Chess, Vote Chess, Lessons/Mentor), some others are still buggy (Clubs, etc), and we are grinding through it as fast as we can. We don't expect to launch the site fully until March.
Also, remember that any time any website makes changes, people hate it. At first :) We are moving to a more modern design pattern which includes navigation on the left (like facebook, google, youtube, twitch.tv, etc). So before you say "What happened to Chess.com!!!" please remember that it takes a little time. Those of you who love the current site maybe don't even remember V1... http://web.archive.org/web/20070702010347/http://www.chess.com/
Enjoy and thanks for your support!

erik,
clicked the link, only to discover that a 2560x1440 (1440p) screen seems to be unsupported/improperly formatted. Completely unusable for me. Do you want a screenshot? or are you aware of the problem?
p.s. Submitted a report in the new version, it appeared to take a screenshot automatically. Impressive!

To switch to the new site beta test: http://note.io/1CTJXc1
Switch back to the old style: http://note.io/1Hh3Edm
In most cases when you switch between versions, you should land on the same page (or nearby) in the other version. We hope this give you the incentive to check things out as you play.
I'm understanding it
