How many people think that; Chess is just a Total Waste of Time in Life!

You’ll be dead in 40 to 80 years, being honest your life won’t matter, neither will mine, nothing matters, live and be happy that’s all their is. So In answer to your question it’s a waste of life if you decide it is.

Thats sad that you think lives don't matter, and nothing matters. So with that mindset, does that make it ok to do whatever you want regardless of the consequences?
I can see why you would think it’s sad but it’s just reality; how many people from the 1700s do you know or remember ? I’m happy to know I don’t matter and appreciate the freedom. But if you want to feel like you matter do what makes you happy, although you probs don’t. Be happy my friend an

And yes, although I of course apply my moral compass to it. But again 200 years from now nobody will care, it’s arrogant to think otherwise
one more pointless post in order to have many answers equally pointless. If you think it is a waste of time, what do you think about the time creating a post asking if it is a waste of time? and the time of all this people answer that "important" question and you read it all? Well spent time, i imagine... This foruns ARE the waste of time... and i'm losing mine!

only because i have high regard from you @talapia, as i read other posts from you, and i have liked it, let me give some "pointless" thoughts. Everything you do in your life is utterly pointless. Even have kids, when you see from a higher perspective, from a species point of view, changes nothing at all. All love, all hate, all civic works, all wars, from thousend years means really nothing as it only had significance for that people at that time. All vanishes in time. Even what you think it is ethernal, let's say religion for instance, and you see the history of man, even that disapeer and give place to others. Saying this, should we suicide all? If nothing in live is important, what is important? Pay bills, have food in table, don't freeze? Have fun, develop you mind, read a book? My opinion? What matters is what makes me happy. It is this important to you? Probably not, you don't even know me. But if all of us were happy, playing chess, reading, painting, earning money and being rich, making "stupid" posts only to make noise, wouldn't our world be a better and happier place?

Gerbeck has a point there. It is pure existentialism and existentialist thinking that life is totally absurd.
The fact that you are alive for say 80 years is one of the most absurd views you will ever have.
