Me having my roof replaced, reaching the climax of a bullet game, builder walks in and presents me with an invoice for £3500.

Did you at least win?

I'm afraid not. It was a bullet. They did an excellent job on my roof though!

You still won in some regard

Indeed, having a roof which no longer leaks is very good for my blood pressure.

No one wants to talk... until your chess game starts.

Time is the thing I am most short of and I am interupted all day long. Usually for stuff that does not matter.

This is just a question of who lives alone vs has family or intrusive roommates.

I love my 4 and 2 year old children and even my wife but the distraction is off the charts. Constantly frustrating. It doesn't help that I'm a beginner. I usually get ahead on material and then blunder something or just don't know how to turn the screw in the mid to end game. With distractions not helping, basically all my games start fine and end beaten and frustrated.

I can relate to this topic. It is an utter disaster when I am involved in a rapid chess game, and my wife walks in the room.

There were 5 of us kids. My dad's response to our interruptions was to teach us to play chess. As for the here and now, one of the reasons I don't play speed chess is because everyone rings the doorbell because they think it's my neighbor's. I know what will happen...

I'm 36 and have a wife and kid and for me it goes like this -

I get up 30min early before work to do Puzzle Rush

I have 30min commute each way so that's 1 hour, I use for Chessable courses

When I come home I spend about 15-20min on Openings

When my kid goes to bed about 8pm I play Chess for 1-2 hours when no-one will distract me.

A lot, today I was playing a game and was winning but blunder because of being interrupted and unable to concentrate as well as I didn't had enough time to continue playing to I had to play moves in a middlegame in just few seconds

Sometimes, I will play a games then a few minutes in, I would get a chores that I have to do instantly, and completely bleed my time.
