How to convince my dad to get me chess.com diamond?

Perhaps ask for the gold membership first and prove to your Father that you will diligently use it. Also, show that your school work will not be negatively impacted by the time spent on chess.com. Good luck!

I want to dedicate myself to being a better chess, player, doing more lessons and games review and learning from my mistakes. But my dad doesn't want to get it cuz it's "Too expensive". How do I convince him? I was thinking do the free trial and show him all the stuff I get and show him how much chess I'm gonna play (A lot) but I'm open to any other suggestions
Offer him something in return and try to make a deal. If he pays your subscription, you'll do stuff in return that he (or your mum) would like you to do.

I had this issue too....Just get a platinum membership. It's about half the price, but still has everything you would need.....and show him that you can progress both in chess and your schoolwork at the same time.....

Get to 2500, and then argue it is necessary for your professional growth. Till 2500 use the free ressources that are available everywhere on the net.

I learned this recently, after living for about 53 years.
There is no deal. Make things happen by yourself. The less dependent you are on other people the better.
Do it by yourself. That is the first and last lesson you need in life. You can't depend on other people to get you want you want.
If it doesn't exist, you make it exist.
Deals are the only way you can get money. The OP is looking for money from his dad, perhaps in a deal, and his dad is looking for money from his employer, in a deal known as a "job contract".
try getting the gold membership first, as that is the cheapest and is the best deal. then, after showing you can handle it, and showing how much you've improved, you can convince him to get the platinum/diamond membership.
good luck! update us on whether or not any of the listed methods work

As a father of four boys, I can say that good grades in school are a strong motivator for supporting other pursuits.
As a chess coach, I know too well how chess can disrupt academics, and also know well how it can support them. Prove to your father that chess and school are on the same page.

work for the money, prove yourself that you are worthy to even consider being bought a diamond membership, prove that you are worthy and you will dedicate time and effort to this and under no circumstances will you give up

If you truly dedicate yourself to chess, i.e. spend more than an hour day studying (not just playing blitz or using the forums), and do this consistently, for say a couple of months, then you'll show that you're truly serious about chess, and not just here to use these forums as surrogate TikTok, which might make him may reconsider.
Of course, this depends on your family's financial situation, but your dad probably does have the money to pay for the membership; he simply does not want to pay the money for a membership that (in his view) you won't put to good use.
Personally, I think that the diamond membership is a scam, when there are so many free resources online, but what do I know? Perhaps people really are getting something out of the chess.com lessons.

Just because you have a 15 second attention span does not mean that everyone else does. I'm not writing for the lowest common denominator.
