hello, i am still having issues with people spamming the bowdler attack at 1700 and there seems to be no real game plan other than a6-b5 and e6-d5. i really need help with a counter to this because i do really bad agianst it

heres a game where i got an open sicilian (played much better)

and then a game where i get demolished by the bowdler because i dont know the plans past e6-d5 while white just fooled around the whole game, i had no idea what to do so i just got stuck

no i set it to that as a joke

pushing d5 would result in an annoying e5 and white would probally start some annoying kingside attack soon after

why not play faster? I think instead of Nc6 an immediate d5 makes the position much easier for white to play

im sick of this position

I think its the best way to play against it. maybe theres another way idk but that one is def the most direct

Generally if I play e6, I don’t play g6 because of structural issues and a waste of tempi with d6, e6, g6 then finally Bg7, no need. Plus white plays for f4 in most lines.

The sideline I like is b6 when a4 is played but an early d5 is principled as others have mentioned already.

i play d6 , thinking they will play d4 but they dont so i dont have a choice

Play 2.e6 and d7 shields your king. I still see people Bb5 on autopilot lol and it’s a waste of tempo or no good squares for the “bad bishop”.
