I started with bots. I was too shy to play with people when I just learned the rules. Way back in the year 2010. No chess tactic puzzles. No chess books. Anyways, I am just sharing what I did. It is possible. Now coaches say "Solve chess tactics every day", "Study the endgames first", "Study two openings for white and two for black", "Master strategy". And I see too many people stuck in 800-1400 chess.com.

Well maybe if you studied those things you wouldn't have to resort to pre moving your a and b pawns every game in bullet (the only time control you've played in your 5 days here) and flagging people while being completely lost on the board. I looked at your games that's literally all you do so congrats on being really fast at making awful moves I guess 🤷

Lmao I noticed the weird openings too 😂

How did bro get so good at flagging by only playing bots

I actually think that being bad at chess is kind of an advantage in bullet. You don't have to be good. Just move really fast and don't get mated and you'll win more than you lose. That's especially true for 1+0 bullet. I have a terrible habit of thinking too much. My opponent will make a move that I know is wrong but it takes me too long to figure out why it's wrong and then I'll run out of time before I can convert the win. A bad player in that same position won't even know that move the opponent made was bad and won't start thinking on how to punish it. They'll just keep clicking their premoves without thinking and win on time as long as they don't get mated.

Yeah I agree, I'm a dirty flagger too. I've reached 2600 bullet on lichess and 2560 here at my peak

But OTB I'm u2000 still 😂

I'll get outplayed badly in OTB sometimes by people 500+ lower rated than me in bullet

Now you all agree it is possible without studying anything at all. Of course, I can play 1. d4, e4 . And c4 too. In longer time controls. I remember opening lines from higher-rated bots.

Study → Practice → Fix → Repeat

This is the framework I use with students I coach.

It is likely impossible as no player has ever quite been able to achieve 2000 elo

I was never talented. Never had a coach. But I was stubborn and persistent. People told me to quit because I'm a hopeless Patzer. I was clowned a lot by my inner circle, I would play unsound sacrifices, experiment etc. But now I peaked at 2550 blitz, the strongest in my inner circle.

So persist. Be stubborn. Expect being stuck and frustrated and discouraged. Make up your own theories and expect them to fail. Persistence is key. Ask questions. Look for answers. Asking this question is already a step in the right direction.

Good luck.

I don't think it's possible to improve by playing bots

I'm playing one called Francis at the moment. Supposed to be 2300. It's really quite good and is sharpening me up and making me develop efficiently. I'm playing fast, like I would in a 10 minute or 5 minute game, If I go wrong I go back and finda better move.

Bullet is a different game.

Thing is, the odds are extremely against being any good without any study or theory. No grandmaster has ever claimed they never learned theory.

I can be chess.com 2000+ in rapid too. I will play rapid chess a few days from now. I am just sharpening up my reflexes by playing bullet a lot first. I haven't played chess for months.

use Chessly and learn openings that match your style, study endgames like Philidor and Lucena position, study how to make a plan in the middlegame

Hikaru said that the only thing you need to be good at is tactics

I am not there yet but I’m coming close!

Though it may be a way to get there, I wouldn't recommend to do that. First for the obvious reason that it is not allowed, then because 2000 is easily reachable without having to use any form of outside assistance. Getting by cheating to a level you could have reached without will probably make you feel less proud, and the level you’d reached would not be as reserved. So no it's a bad idea, please please please dont cheat, anyone here
