Well, you have to reach at least 2200 elo~
How to get a title?

That's why I said "assuming that I've reached the level to compete in the necessary tournaments".

If u do, which is not very easy, you get NM or CM title. If u reach 2300 u get FM. if u reach 2400 and get 3 norms u reach IM. the next level is GM!

You'll need to do a lot of studying. A few hundred for books. Start with basics, then move up. Endgames, calculation, positional elements, and strategy are key especially. Keep in mind as you progress players will share your knowledge. A class C player for example will know all the basics you know but not know what a B player knows so you'll always need to obtain more knowledge and calculation ability. Remember that every move counts and it takes just one move to throw away a win or blunder into a worse position, even seemingly reasonable moves can be like this if you don't calculate far enough or misevaluate a position.
Also, find a chess coach. They can be helpful in improving your game and motivating you. Take a notebook and take notes of all the helpful and important points they make.

Let me google that for you!

a norme is basically a good result, i.e. >2450 perf in a tournament for IM norm, >2600 perf for a GM norm, + some others conditions (nationality of opponents, titles of opponents etc).

Basically it's a certain performance rating vs certain competition. There's a lot of regulations like, IIRC, how many countries are represented and how many rounds the tournament is. This is for FIDE titles though. In the United States if you get to 2200 you're automatically a NM.
What are all the requirements for all the "master titles"? Like CM, NM, IM, and GM? And are there other titles other than those 4?

This requires a longer answer than you may think. Here are all the details: http://www.fide.com/fide/handbook.html?id=164&view=article
The abridged version is, CM, FM, IM, and GM are international titles given by FIDE. They're available to men and women. To make it really really short...
CM ~2200 FIDE
FM ~2300 FIDE
IM ~2400 FIDE*
GM ~2500 FIDE*
*Norms required to earn title, but can also be awarded for winning certain tournaments.
FIDE also offers female exclusive titles. Just add a W in front i.e. WCM, WFM, WIM, WGM. The really short version for these is to just subtract 200 points from the universal titles. So a WCM is ~2000. WGM is ~2400.
NM is a national master title. In the United States you get it for a USCF rating of 2200.

To make it really really short...
CM ~2220 FIDE
FM ~2300 FIDE
IM ~2400 FIDE*
GM ~2500 FIDE*
*Norms required to earn title (>2450 perf for IM, >2600 perf for GM)

That's what I thought, but in that link I thought it said 2450 and 2600 (talking about performance ratings). Although in the past it may not have been that high. I know there are lots of 2500 GMs, and 2600 used to mean you were in the top 10 in the world.

Oh, very good, I'll edit my other post.
I would like to play in tournaments, improve, and get a title. Assuming that I've reached the level to compete in the necessary tournaments, what do I do to try out for a title?
What tournaments should I play? What place should I go to?
Please answer. Thanks!
