How to reach FIDE?

Hello......please allow me to tell a short story about myself...to explain my exact situation and possibilities...

I am 16.5 years old now....at June 2019....when I was 15...i started to study chess (I knew how to play since I was 8....but I never managed to develop my skills, because there are no chess books, chess couches or chess clubs in my city "suez" which is in Egypt (in Egypt, chess is a hardly known game, as soccer is THE national sport...and all chess activities...which are quite limited..only exist in the capital (with probably only 2-3 couches and one club in the whole country)) and my father...who taught me how to play...became strong after 30 years of experience...with only knowing the rules all this time (he knows nothing about tactics/strategy in their own definition......but amazingly he uses all of them without knowing due to his long years of experience...and he can't teach me any of them...)... I only managed to find chess study resources at that later date....and finally start studying..due to the availability of internet....))

Now... I am rated 1300+ in rapid (I could probably rate myself as 700 before June 2019....as I barely knew how to move the pieces with very basic defence/attack abilities...I didn't even know about en passent..)

By the end of one year of studying....3 months from now... I presume I will reach 1400....

Within 2 more years....I may reach 2000+ (my year-long dream)

Finally ...back to the question....what about FIDE? How can I take all this hard work to the next step...official tournaments? (With all due respect and love to chess.com......casual tournaments don't get anyone anywhere..only official tournaments can make someone a real champion.)

My family has no active VISA...so online shopping (and paying 7$ for FIDE annually ) is out of question....

Since I live in Egypt.....further care from specialists concerning tournament play and all this 2000+ stuff...is not that simple (it is quite complicated to travel to the capital...only for a game like chess...and my family will just have further costs to pay for due to all these long travels...aside from all the trouble and worries from travelling itself...)

I saw the movie (queen of cataway...or something like that..)..in which the champion...who knew none about chess...was taken care of by the new village chess couch...and eventually she became the best in Africa....

She had a chess couch...who was the ONLY link between her and world tournaments..

I,however, lake that one factor to let me reach tournaments..a chess couch.....

So....is there any way to join FIDE's online official chess tournaments (or ANY online official chess tournaments)....without the need for that wicked VISA? Any way to take this to the next level? Any way to reach any official tournaments there are? (Without VISA or chess couches far away..)

My only concern is that all this hard long....my dream to become a chess champion....would be in vain..

I know it may be early to ask that question....but I had this concern lately....and I just want to make sure there is an easy way into the sole purpose of chess studies themselves...championships..)

Thanks for your time...

Thanks for your time...

You want a coach, not a couch.

Couches are pieces of furniture that usually sit several people.

You really just started. You are lucky that you can learn and play from the comfort of your home.

You only started to play here this month and have only played 59 games so far.

I wouldn't worry about joining FIDE for a while. FIDE online games don't count any more than games played here or anywhere online. All online  games offer perfectly good training if you can actually play and self-critically analyze your games.

There must people who play chess and organize over the board matches or tournaments in your village. Once the pandemic is over, seek them out.

In the meantime, play a few thousand games here and take advantage of all the free lessons here and elsewhere.

I read the book "The Queen of Katwe", which you can probably find.  I think it was better than the movie in describing the incredible adversity she had to overcome and how she did it.

1-sorry for misspelling the word "coach"....it's because I write things too fast....

2-this isn't my first account....I have several accounts in several chess websites (chess24 and here) with hundreds of games recorded....I disabled my first account on chess.com (which was a mistake) but then I made this new account ...that lost account had hundreds of games (I mostly play 3-4 games everyday)

3- I don't live in a village..I live in the city of suez....and I didn't believe that people hardly cared for chess like you do now...but when I tried to invite all my friends to play chess...they just don't care...and they play soccer insted....even our old teachers (who are supposed to like old board games and don't play soccer or video games..).they don't play chess....in the whole city of 2 million people...there is not ONE chess club...not ONE

so...the point is without local help...online FIDE is the way to make official rating...titles...and official progress....

Avatar of FGMkyrollous

so....how can that be done without VISA? (I suppose that many people in the world are like me...willing to take chess studies with full dedication...but afraid they will never have a chance to make chess more that a game they play at lunchtime at work!)...if impossible...is there any way else?

and finally...I know that the need for FIDE comes later when one gets 2000+ but I just want to make sure that when ready...I don't face a deadend...so??

Most people won't make chess more than something they play casually or at local/regional tournaments. If there isn't a chess club in your area, start one. As for traveling for tourneys, you'll have to figure out ways you might be able to make that work out for you. The fact is, that for the most part, FIDE isn't really involved with players but more with other organizations.

You might contact the Egyptian Chess Federation (find the contact information on this page: https://www.fide.com/directory/member-federations) to see if they have any suggestions.

i want to see how good actually Players are of my same age , will you play with me ?

Well....thanks everyone!

And very special thanks to (Martin_stahl) for this special link....I never knew that Egyptian chess federation actually exists! I knew about the one club in the capital....but it's great to have a whole federation (and more importantly...those five officials should do the trick in getting people like me in international tournaments in the proper time and rating).......thanks again!

Isn't soccer called football in Egypt?  Hmm...

Avatar of FGMkyrollous

Football has two types : American football=rugby....and European football =soccer.... I used the term (soccer) to be accurate...
