How to report my opponent?

I was winning a great game against my opponent. I thought it would be one of my best games I've ever played.

But suddenly my opponent did something I really didn't expect, and it made my win much harder, and much less elegant.

My opponent somehow reconfigured the pieces on the board for one turn, and saved him/herself.

This was the current position:

null

Afterwards, this happened:

null

My opponent cheated to get his king into safety, while I couldn't do the same.

My opponent was not creative or skilled enough to think of how to activate the rook without cheating.

Nevertheless, I came up with a brilliant way to get the rook out, as you can see in the game notation, with ...a5! and ...Ra6!!.

Anyways, how do you report someone for cheating?

Maybe the people in the below can help you.

Thats just castling in chess960. Yet another troll by Cherub.

Chess960?

I know what Chess960 is - I used to have a 99.8% ranking in that before the ban. I have 2250+ live 960 rating.

However, you aren't allowed to cheat in 960, so can someone please tell me what's going on?

Wow.

Just because you aren't allowed to do something doesn't mean people won't do it. People just don't have any decency nowadays.

Cherub_Enjel

Thanks macer. One of the few respectable chess.com members here.

Cherub_Enjel

I'm not glorying in anything.

I just find it hilarious how the situation escalated. You don't know the full story.

KookieN

But... no offense, isn't this just castling? It doesn't look like cheating at all to me.

But the king is on b1. When you castle, your king moves from e1 to c1 in queenside castling.

I'd love to see you move your king to b1, then magically move the rook and king into that position in one move.

Anumakaar;  He wasn't banned, he was muted for a short time.

Cherub_Enjel

^I was also banned for a short while, but they were forgiving.

Ah. Admittedly I didn't look through past moves. But at a glance this seems fine. At least, in Chess960 terms, since you can basically set up the board however. If it were a normal game of chess sure, it's probably illegal. But in Chess960? Seems legal to me, but hey. I'm no expert.

Soon, though not soon enough

For what?

DeepFlight12

Learn the rules before making this idiot thread. You are accusing your opponent of cheating. A serious accusation to be making in a public forum. It's 960 chess and a 100 percent legal move. Geez, you ever going to grow up ?

DeepFlight12

You've been here how many years and have to ask how to report abuse in this manner ?

It is a legal move and the OP knows it. The same basic rules apply in 960 but there are positions,  like this one, where it looks weird. The king and rook go to their normal squares, as long as all other castling conditions were met.

DeepFlight12

Of course he knows it. Imo he is only seeking attention, but attention that attempts to make a of mockery of the game. Next, the implication is there is a bug with chess.com and that its possible to bypass the program and make illegal moves. He never mentioned it was a 960 game.
