How to study chess?

well, I like the program that the OP has laid out.
its really NOT that far off.
I think though she ought to include the endgame though. there are many good options. I'm not familiar with NM aww-rat's selection. Vids, may be compelling, but it shouldn't be the bulk of ones study time IMHO.
more staring at a real board and less staring at a video.

A mix of the above would be good, add in end game study too <- something I never do enough of.
I think if you do the same form of chess everyday it wil get boring. It's good to mix it up. Have one day where you focus on correspondance, one day for tactics/standard game etc

@Jengaias
ok. again we disagree. I know your strong dislike of contemporary books. you are selling them short, sir.
regarding videos, its NOT the content that is the problem. Chess canNot be learned be passive listening. but if your truly thinking through the video, and trying to understand why and how. it can be very instructive. for me this involves making copius notes. try to suggest moves- and use the pawn button ALOT.
with good habits, most books and most videos Are instructive IMHO.

Balance all of these, as others have stated. I strongly recommend that you go through each game in Logical Chess on your own before reading Chernev's annotations. Get the game score without annotations, sit at a chess board, and go through the game. Identify for yourself the game's major errors--positional and tactical. Write down your observations. Then go through Chernev's comments.
Chernev is wrong on a few minor points, so read critically.
I like to have a theme for a month. It could be a book, video series, or something broad like "attacks" or something narrow like a specific opening variation or a specific exercise like a certain number of tactic puzzles.
But after the month is over, switch to something else.
Alternatively, for me, if I try to study 5 things in a single day I either get tired and stop paying attention or burn out.
And of course looking at the same material or doing the same exercises forever isn't going to help much. (You can revisit books, videos, and puzzles later though... in fact I recommend it).

Daria. I am mixing a lot of what you suggest.
I do some onlinemoves every day.
I play longchesstournaments otb, ca 40 games a year. I think this is the strongest.
I do tactics.
I also do play some blitz , (bullet just for fun), and 15min 10 sec livechess.
I look at Svidler commenting the candidates and other topgames.
I look at youtubevidoes about fine games.
I am looking at three books now and then.
I go to a chessclass in my club 10 times a year.
I buy mastertutoring WIM or GM , maybe 6 hours a year.
I analyze my games more seldom than I want to.
I think it works well. Last otb tournament I had an average b-class result, but my rating belongs to the c-class.

I would recommend anything that you find fun to do, I like to watch chess videos once in a while, practice tactics and simply play any type of time control. I used blitz to practice openings and rapid to actually analize games.

if there is only one thing .do tactics trainer one hour daily simple.iam as of now rated 2100 on tactics trainer. all gm im fm nm cm in my friend list and elsewhere are above 2000 on tactics.

my rating in blitz 10 minute games went up from 1500 to 1600 with this method alone.now it consistently stays above 1600 and as of now iam rated 1700 .

Thank you, maharaja-style.
You always give me useful advices.
Maybe I wanted an answer like.. "just concentrate on tactics trainer until you master it"

but dont rush through the problems.tactics trainer here on chess.com is very tricky.its very important that you completely understand why you got a puzzle wrong.click analysis and then click play vs computer in the given position. you should do this with every problem you got wrong

I like this! If its fun enough, you will spend more time with it, and during this time you will improve.

Не вижу проблемы. Главное -- заучить основу дебютов, остальное быстро придет с опытом
If I have 1~2 hours a day to play chess,
